Conflict of Interest Policy
Exclusions for All Members
Former dancers, coaches, and current fall coaches may officiate as outlined for each JAM level listed, EXCLUDING their former/current team. This exclusion is lifted after five school years of non-affiliation with their former team.
Those who have a family member as a coach or dancer of a participating team may also officiate as outlined for each JAM level listed, EXCLUDING their former/current team. This exclusion is lifted after four school years of non-affiliation with their former team.
Conflicts of Interest
It is our responsibility to be professional and avoid officiating teams where there may be a conflict of interest, whether real or perceived. Members are required to disclose any real or perceived conflicts of interest upon registering with JAM each year, and as each season progresses. Assignments will be made at the discretion of JAM depending on each individual member’s conflict.
Examples of conflicts of interest could include:
Family members (athlete or coach)
Studio or youth teams
Off-season dance team consultant
Friends who coach or have kids on a participating team
Other relationships (personal or professional)
Officials should also avoid working games in a school district where they:
Are employed
Have children enrolled (even if they’re young or not involved in dance team). If you live in a school district that has multiple high schools, the primary concern is the high school that you are zoned for.
Have an immediate relative who is employed or coaches any sport
Immediate relatives include siblings, children, stepchildren, grandchildren, parents, grandparents, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Ineligible to Join
